Students often encounter difficulty in the commencement of their dissertation. Most often, I’ve seen students panicking as to how they should begin. On the very initial stage, they start looking out for a topic without basing any objectives, or plans for the complete work. This approach, although initiate the work, but at later stage leaves them struck in the mid-way with n hope and scope to go further.

Ideally, students must begin with thinking upon the specific area for research which interests them the most. This will act as the theme for their dissertation. The next step is to narrow the broad area to a stream which encourages them to learn and investigate. They should also set clear objectives as to what they plan to carry out all through their research. Then comes the task of choosing or formulating a topic relevant to the stream of study and the objectives. A topic is just a brief representation of what the students wish to describe through their report. When the objectives are pre-decided and clear in mind, it is easy to devise an appropriate topic that clearly defines the idea behind the work.

While deciding the topic, it must also be kept in mind that the topic must exactly define the research question since a considerable amount of time would be spent with that topic. And, it is the first thing that will be judged by the readers or reviewing community. The subsequent task is to prepare the required chapters as per the guidelines given by the mentors or the university.

Commencing is the most difficult part since one lacks the focus and direction to begin.

We should choose the topic of our interest area only.

Before choose the topic and drafting the research question we should go through the previous articles or research papers.

Yes it gives a more clear idea of the topic and we can decide easily if we should really take it further.

Yes because if it will interest the guide he will surely not reject it.
