Hi there! Can anyone please advise me on how can I write a convincing rationale for dissertation proposal? I would like to research on the conventional leadership strategies adopted by authority in a corporate sector and its effects on the male and female workforce. I seek funding from research councils at Edinburgh University for which I require a winning proposal. When I consulted few of my seniors, they suggested me to focus more on rationale of the research study, problem statement and the research methodology. I’m confident of the methodology and problem statement as I can pose them extravagantly but a little skeptical about the rationale of study. Give me some ideas please.

Hi there! I feel so sorry for you. When I was writing my dissertation, I too faced such difficulties. Unlike you, my seniors were of no help. So, I had taken help from http://www.scoringhigh.co.uk/. Their experts guided me immensely. I still remember one of the academic writers from their team explained it to me that the most important thing a Dissertation Proposal should highlight is – What kind of contribution do I intend to make with my research? And just in case if I have any new Data Gathering Methods, I should explain in detail about it. The idea behind it is that if any future generation researcher would want to pursue a research using the same method, he should be able to understand the nuances of this method. And, it is only possible if it is well explained.

To create a flawless rationale for your study, there are three things you need to keep in mind. First, find out gaps in the literature and find out how you can eliminate those gaps with your contribution in the research study you are going to present. Disposal of gaps in the present writing is one of the mandatory prerequisites for your examination. Second, the examination can be led to take care of a particular issue. You need to clarify the essence of the problem in a comprehensive manner and feature reasonable advantages related with the solution of the problem. Third, the study of research needs to add to the level of expert advancement of the researcher. You need to explain in what ways this research adds to the accomplishment of your aspirations in detailed way.

Through your dissertation proposal, you introduce your Research Question. So, its rationale needs to be convincing. First and foremost, you need to describe – “To what extent a research has been performed in this area?” and how various theories, methods and techniques couldn’t come up with effective outcomes. The next important thing would be how exactly your approach will make a difference. You should also discuss the merits of this research. Identify a target group which would be most affected by the results of your research. You need to emphasize how the conclusions drawn from your research would benefit them. In a nutshell, justify your reasons for pursuing this research. Hope it’s clear to you! Good luck!

I will keep my answer simple and to the point. What i can figure out from your query is that you are very clear about your research topic and its concepts. You need proper guidance in streamlining your ideas to get a better result. All research proposals must address the subject of what you intend to fulfill and why you need to and how you will do it. Do comprehensive research about your area of work. Take consultation from your professors. I am sure you will be able to prepare it. All the best for your future endeavour.
