Has anyone adopted pragmatic approach for their research? I have to do research in social sciences but want to get guidance of what shall I avoid while combining qualitative and quantitative mode? Am I taking a right step or not?

Mixed methods open up many choices for you to make. With personal experience I say that it is often good to do research with mixed methods because it reduces the possibilities of any gap within information. You can adopt any method suitable to fulfill your data requirement.

Totally agreed. Such mode of research provides freedom to the researcher to find out the loopholes and fill them with a data, information, arguments and conclusion drawn using various other methods. I would suggest you to continue with what you are thinking.

In social sciences, the word triangulation is used for mixed method research. Isn’t it?

Yes. Triangulation is used for it. It signifies that two or more methods are used to yield and justify the same result.

Now when triangulation is introduced in the conversation. Tell me one more thing. What is the difference between triangular and instrument design model?

Don’t know much about triangulation and instrument design, but the basic one is that priority is given to qualitative information collection and then data collection in instrument. However, in triangulation data and information is collected at the same time.
