- I settled on a topic for my dissertation
- Got it approved from supervisor
- Read a lot of literature
- Formulated my research proposal
- Submitted it
Got rejected!
Why?
Because the topic is not up to the level!
Freaking impossible! I am so angry right now, I mean after doing everything right, systematically, on time, they are rejecting me on the basis of my topic that got approved in the first place? How stupid could that be!
Now, I gotta do everything again! Not only the topic is rejected, the matter inside the proposal is also not up to it! That a crap lot of work to do. What do I do now? Can anyone help me with this? -

I believe you’ll have to change the topic. I came across a post about choosing a topic and writing proposal. I found it quite resourceful and maybe it can help you. I am sharing the link below. Check it out!

Sorry to hear that Anton, rejection on topic after submitting the proposal, brutal man. Could you be a bit precise as to what all they commented?

Thanks for the replies. I am correcting the proposal, out of no option. @AustinWere04: Apparently, my topic isn’t worth researching on, Apart from that, they pointed out small things like the flow of the proposal is inappropriate, rationale is weak, lack of literature to support and poor methods. Almost all of it is wrong. It’s like redoing everything from the beginning.

Have you tried talking to your committee, who rejected your proposal? I think you should take their comprehensive inputs and only then start with your work.

Yes, I have, but they have given broad comments, not precise. Should I talk to them again or ask my supervisor to edit or give to-the-point comments

Get a proposal template of your college, maybe one of your friends can help you with that, and get on with making that template as yours. A template will have all the essentials, it’ll tell you what all needs to be there and what all you need to do. Maybe you don’t understand what your professors want, so a template might help.
