Master’s programmes generally signify the fact that the student or the degree holder has stepped beyond the basic level of knowledge in the related discipline. And that he/she has acquired advanced specialized knowledge in the particular domain. Basing this concept, the Master’s programmes are categorized under the broad title of Post-Graduate programmes.
Although, most of the Master’s titles, adopted by Universities are common and have been in use since generations, there are some not-so common types of titles that have been evolved by time. For example, Newcastle University in UK offers a Master in Music which is abbreviated as (MMus.), while Master of Design Science (abbreviated as MDESSC.) is a post-graduate programme listed under the University of Sydney, Australia. The confusion generally doesn’t end here; it goes ahead towards the topic of study as well. By this, I mean, Master’s programmes also generate misperceptions with what the topics of programme are, for example, the MSc. do not necessarily deal with science. Many B-Schools offer MSc. programmes in Management and related fields. Hence, a player shall play safe when handling the Game of Master’s.
