Energy Management is a broad field and I am finding it difficult to narrow down a good research topic for me. I am thinking about researching in oil refineries or petroleum management as that genuinely needs attention but I don’t want to involve lab work. I want a smooth degree with no bumps as I am already working 9 hours a day.
Anyone having knowledge regarding this area can please leave their comments. Thank you in Advance!

Energy Management is a vast area, you first need to narrow it down. Which domain intrigues you the most, coal, petroleum, oil, renewable energies, natural gas or power production? You need to be particular about it and then look for a topic.

I am keen on doing research in oil refineries, something around the challenges faced and how better can they work. How should I further narrow it down?

Find the literature (books, research papers) and then find the weakness (what is left out) in it. Finding a good topic is what will define your research. It is the basic step. Read a lot, don’t just do it in a buzz. Take your time. Meanwhile, you can read this blog, I found it quite useful:

A topic has to be doable and must be helpful for your career. Also, can you get primary and secondary data on it? You need to consider these few points before settling for a topic.

This is a link of University of Pavia. It suggests few topics which are related to your topic. You can surely refer to them.

Selecting a topic is well….difficult. And you need to set some criterion for it and also decide your scope. That’s a lot, I know, but well you are doing masters. It’s not supposed to be easy. I found these tips and maybe they will be helpful to you!
