M glad that there are people with whom I can discuss my woes. It’s just the beginning of my Ph.D. and m all clueless. I don’t know which way to lead and how to reach my destination. I am specializing in Marketing management and pursuing my Ph.D, from University of Glasgow. But I am finding it real hard to narrow down a real unique topic for my Ph.D. When I meet my guides to discuss with them about the topic which are in trend and have great scope, they offer me a list which has a very broad scope. Them again I am back to square one, clueless and confused. Can anyone help me with my situation? I have a month’s time left to submit my title and am still on the search spree.

I can very well understand the gravity of the situation. Though there is a specific domain which I am pursuing but the key contribution I derived from the organization where I am working at present. I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Human resources and hence I narrowed down a topic pertaining to the issue which is causing great trouble in my organization i.e. “Ascertaining the parameters which determines the success of implementing the knowledge management system in an organization”. Focusing on this topic I tried to search for other organization who implemented K.M. in their organization so that I can increase my sample size as well.

Topic selection also became a pain for me because my supervisor was not readily available to guide me. So I took help of a consultant who made my job easy on this part. You can find some of them on google.

I must say that you chose a decent technique for topic selection. But I second the opinion of Fisher. I have first-handedly experienced topic consultants who provide consultation on narrowing down your topic. To save on my time I took guidance from them. You may have a look at their offerings at “thesisclinic.co.uk”. It might happen that you land up with another unique and viable topic for research.

Hey guys, I couldn’t do it on my own. It’s really mind-boggling. So, I contacted thesis clinic yesterday, and they gave me 3 topics today! That was fast right? Anyways I have narrowed it down to one and phew, that’s a relief!I hope it all goes well now. And for those who are stuck in this line, look out for thesis clinic! They might solve your problem, like they did mine!
