Many students find it difficult to understand the demands of their dissertations; hence, they are unable to select between qualitative and quantitative research. If you are also in this dilemma, ask yourself the following questions: (a) Do I need an expert’s opinion on this topic or do I need the public’s viewpoint? (b) Do I need detailed answers or am I looking for short answers? If you need an expert’s opinion or detailed answers, you ought to conduct qualitative research in the form of in-depth interviews. On the other hand, if you need the public’s viewpoint or short answers, you should go for quantitative research in the form of surveys and polls.

Laura, to seek people’s opinion with the use of long questions, you can increase the number of options in your Questionnaire. Also, add more Subjective Questions than Multiple Choice Objective Questions.
