Boy are you frustrated! I am not sure I can understand your feelings, as my supervisor has always been there to support me. But I do understand how rejection feels.

Coming to editing, I would say that editing can do wonders to your work. And to be honest, it is a biggest part of a masters or PhD program, which is highly unavoidable. You should not be repelled by it, or feel sorry that you have been suggested with editing. To think about it, it is a chance to further your work, enhance it and even get higher marks than you must have expected.

You are right, likert scale is used for building a quantitative questionnaire. There are various types of measurements that you can use such scales, 3-scale, 5-scale and 7-scale. And I’ll also advice that you lookout for some research documents of your field where questionnaires are used as a research method. You can take help from there.

I think thematic content analysis will be a preferable option for you to apply multiple theories across variety of epistemology. As your research seems elaborative, it will help you to substantiate a large set of data and interpret the themes based on it. The perceptions of people can be easily categorized into themes.

Well, that’s a real bad situation. In this case, you’ll have to re-write everything and show the changes to your guide. Or perhaps you can just change the initial parts of every chapter. And work on results and conclusion more, as they are quite important to the readers. Find a relaxing place, keep dictionary ready at you side, read a lot of journals and re-phrase your sentences. See if it works.

Also, I asked a friend of mine who was also looking for funding, and here’s what I got to know. There are 7 different research councils that provide funding of around £13,500 to more than 7,000 students per year. Scholarships provided by the colleges are usually limited and yes, you can opt for career-sponsorship schemes and work as a social worker, teacher etc. Lastly, you can apply for a professional and career development loan.

Hey, if you’re open to other options as well then you can try for PhD studentship. They are basically jobs related with teaching and research that you can do while doing your PhD. Not only will it solve your funding problems but also help you set your career.

Why don’t you try looking for a supervisor outside your college? Maybe your friend’s friend? Or maybe someone at your college can refer a professor who’s available. Try to convince your teachers and college management to help you out!
