Matilda SpeightParticipant
I think I understand what you are looking for. If I am right, you just need some help with the studies and how to go about PhD from the very start. See, I found this informational blog about the essential resources required to do a PhD in UK (or any other place) that can help you manage your work and make things easy. You should definitely go through it. Here is the link:
Matilda SpeightParticipantYou do know that supervisors have our internal marks? Just let him edit your document, I don’t think that’s too bad.

Conceptual frameworks help the researchers view the phenomena of interest more acutely; to see details that otherwise might not be apparent. Try to limit the scope of your study and concentrate more on the research problem. A good conceptual framework can increase the value of your chapter.
Matilda SpeightParticipantHi Sabine_Zim, I hope you are doing well here! I moved to London 4 years ago and I can understand the initial hesitation of landing in a new place among new people and not really knowing what to do. Give it some time, and you’ll be okay! So, writing a research proposal, hmm, let me just explain it to you section wise.
1. Research background- It is an overview of your research area explaining the history of your topic, like how the logistics industry has emerged and the challenges encountered. Explain the essential terms in a brief manner.
2. Need for the study- Explain why there is a need for conducting this research? Write the issues that the other researches have failed to address.
3. Purpose and aim of the study- What do you aim to accomplish? What is your purpose of doing this research (that is, addressing the left out issues)?
4. Research questions- They are the questions that your findings will answer. You’ll get to know what they are, once you identify your aim. They are related to your research objectives.
5. Review of the literature- It is the critical analysis of the researches conducted by previous researchers in the same research field as yours. You need to explain the methods adopted by various researchers, their findings and limitations.
6. Research design- This is a large section. It will comprise of the research methodology, approach and methods you’ll use. Read a lot of books for this to understand the various methods.
Research problem- Here, you’ll explain the research gap of your study7. Structure of the thesis- Divide your thesis into chapters and explain what all you’ll incorporate among them. Usually there are 5-6 chapters: Introduction, Literature review, Research Methodology, Data analysis, Results and discussion, Conclusion.
Matilda SpeightParticipantYes, that is exactly what you should say! The more you listen to him, the more he’ll impose on you. Try being gentle about it, but don’t shy away. He ought to know what he’s putting you through. I would also suggest that you talk to your fellow students, maybe work it out, you know.
Matilda SpeightParticipantI am sorry to hear that but why does your supervisor favours the other students? And why do they have problem with you? Have you talked to your supervisor about it?
Matilda SpeightParticipantHey Ivan, one thing that is most important while writing a dissertation is that your document should be easy to navigate. So, maybe your dissertation is perfect but it lacks in presentation. Or maybe your title is not clear and precise. Perhaps you haven’t used key terms in your abstract. Maybe the conclusion, limitations and recommendations of your research are too generic. Possibly, the literature review is not linked with your research aims and objectives. Well, there are so many reasons, anyone of them might have led to your 2:1 dissertation. You need to thoroughly re-check your dissertation to identify the problem and get rid of it. That’s how you can earn a 1!!
